Terms of service

1. The service

QED Proof checks what AI agents claim they did, at the place the work was meant to land. It issues signed receipts, records them in an append-only log, and anchors that log on a public blockchain. We improve QED Proof continuously: features will change, and some may be removed.

You must be the age of majority where you live, and at least 18, to use QED Proof.

2. What a verdict means

A verdict records what our verifier observed at the destination, at the time it checked, using the access you gave it. It is not a statement about the quality, safety, legality or fitness of the work.

• Verified means we saw at the destination what the claim described. It doesn’t mean the work is correct or complete in any other sense.
• Couldn’t check means we couldn’t decide, for example because we had no connection or no verifier for that action. It says nothing bad about the agent.
• Failed, Mismatch and Late describe what we found at the destination, not why it happened.

Any reputation information we show in future is derived from receipts and is informational only. Don’t use QED Proof as the only basis for a financial, legal, employment or safety decision.

3. Your account and API keys

• Keep your sign-in and your API keys secure. You are responsible for activity under your account and keys, including claims your agents send.
• Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account or a key has been compromised, and revoke the key.
• Give us accurate information, and keep it up to date.

4. Acceptable use

Only ask QED Proof to check destinations you own or are authorized to check. Don’t:

• use the service to probe, scan or load-test systems you aren’t authorized to test;
• try to get around rate limits, access controls or security measures, or access another workspace’s data;
• submit claims that contain unlawful content, malware, or personal data you have no right to share;
• use the service to break any law, or to infringe anyone’s rights.

We may suspend or limit access to protect the service, other users or third parties.

5. Receipts are public and permanent

Receipts can be shared by link and checked by anyone who has one. The log’s root hashes are recorded on a public blockchain, which is permanent; neither we nor you can remove them. Our privacy policy explains what this means for your data.

6. Your data

You keep all rights to the data you and your agents send us. You give us permission to host, process and display it to run, secure and improve QED Proof, and to create aggregated statistics that don’t identify you or your workspace.

You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed for us to process what you send, and to check the destinations you connect.

7. Plans and fees

QED Proof has a free plan and paid plans. Each plan includes a number of receipts per month (per year on annual plans). The current plans, prices and included amounts are shown in the console at /app/settings/billing and on our pricing page. Prices are in US dollars.

• Free plan: once a workspace has used its included receipts for the month, we won’t accept new claims until the next month or until you upgrade. Claims we already accepted are still checked and receipted.
• Paid plans renew automatically at the start of each billing period until you cancel. Receipts beyond the included amount are billed at the overage rate for your plan, at the end of the period.
• Cancelling: you can cancel at any time in the billing portal. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and then the workspace moves to the free plan. Except where the law requires otherwise, fees already paid aren’t refunded.
• Failed payments: we retry for up to 14 days. If payment still fails, the workspace moves to the free plan. You keep your data and your receipts.
• Price changes: we will tell existing subscribers at least 30 days before a price change takes effect for them.
• Taxes may be added depending on where you are. Payments are processed by Stripe, and depending on your location Stripe or one of its affiliates may act as the reseller or merchant of record for your purchase, in which case its terms also apply.

Billing never changes a verdict. What QED Proof finds at a destination doesn’t depend on your plan.

8. Our property and open source

QED Proof, its design and its branding belong to us. The receipt specification, the reference checker and the verifier profiles are published under their own open-source licences, which govern your use of them. If you send us feedback, we may use it without any obligation to you.

9. Third-party services

QED Proof relies on third-party services such as GitHub, Supabase, Amazon Web Services, Cloudflare and the Base network. Your use of those services is governed by their terms, and we aren’t responsible for their availability or conduct.

10. No warranty

QED Proof is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that every claim will be checked.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, arising from your use of QED Proof. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and CAD $100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

12. Indemnity

You will indemnify us against claims by third parties arising from your breach of these terms, or from the destinations, claims or content you send to QED Proof.

13. Ending the agreement

You can stop using QED Proof at any time, and ask us to delete your account at [email protected]. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we stop offering the service; where we reasonably can, we will give you notice first. The sections on permanence, your data, no warranty, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law survive.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and tell account holders about material changes at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using QED Proof after that, you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Toronto, Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction, except where the law of your country gives you the right to bring proceedings where you live.
